The impact of restructuring and new business models have had an impact on the profits of BASF. BASF doubled operating profits across its plastics business to E727m last year as against E363m posted in 2003. Styrenics posted a 42% sales increase, polyurethanes 33% and performance polymers a 25% rise. Overall sales was up by 20% (E10.5bn). Sales figures for the three components of the chemicals group’s plastics segment reflected the price rises during 2004.
