BASF TOTAL commences operations at new furnace at steam cracker facility in US

BASF TOTAL Petrochemicals has commenced the operations of a 10th furnace at its steam cracker facility, situated at Port Arthur in Texas, US, as per EBR Staff Writer. The newly commissioned furnace will improve feedstock flexibility, enhance plant reliability and increase ethylene annual production capacity to around one mln mt. In 2013, the company also revamped the steam cracker to process ethane, as part of the optimization measures.
