Bayer in discussions with potential partners to develop natural gas petrochem facility in West Virginia

11-May-11
Bayer is in "solid discussions" with potential partners to develop a large petrochemical facility in West Virginia as per Charleston Daily Mail. Bayer owns property in New Martinsville and Kanawha Valley, along with pipeline right-of-way between the two sites. Bayer is scouting for partners to develop a facility at the locations to benefit from natural gas based American ethane that has previously been more expensive than ethane extracted from natural gas drilled elsewhere, like Saudi Arabia. Natural gas from the Marcellus shale field is considered "wet," meaning it is ethane rich.
