Bisphenol A to be banned from baby bottles in the European Union from mid-2011

30-Nov-10
European Union will ban production and imports of baby bottles with Bisphenol A from June 2011. The ban will see the "manufacture of polycarbonate infant feeding bottles with BPA" outlawed from March 1, 2011, and from June 1, 2011, "the placing on the market and the importation into the union of these bottles will be prohibited", as per a statement by the European Commission. The decision does not require the approval of the European Parliament, which in any case called in June for such a ban.
