Borealis lifts force majeure on polypropylene from Belgian Kallo site

07-Oct-16

Austria's Borealis has lifted force majeure at its polypropylene production site at Kallo near Antwerp in Belgium on Tuesday, as per a company spokeswoman in Platts. Force majeure was first declared at the 300,000 mt/year unit on September 15, following a power outage at the site on September 5 that resulted in a shutdown of all plants at the site.
With the PP market described by producers as well balanced this week and consumer reports of producers still trying to offload September inventory, the return of the Kallo plant may put downward pressure on prices in the coming weeks.
