As per preliminary figures released by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, ethylene output in the country saw a 12% increase to 10.48 mln tons in 2007. Polyethylene output increased by 27% increase to 6.93 mln tons, whereas polypropylene output witnessed a 21% increase to 7.13 mln tons. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) output rose almost 20% to 19.18 mln tons, while feedstock imports for PET production purified terephthalic acid fell by 400,000 tons to 6.6 mln tons.
