As part of it's worldwide cutbacks, Dow Chemical Co. has effected the closure of two plants within its Texas Operations site. Styrene One at Plant B and Unit Two at Dow Oyster Creek Division will be closed as part of the accelerated transformational strategy Dow leaders announced Monday. As part of its new strategy, Dow will close 20 facilities in high-cost locations and eliminate 5,000 full-time jobs companywide. Also, Dow will temporarily idle 180 plants and significantly reduce its contractor workforce worldwide by 6,000 as predicated by reduced operations.
