DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers (P&IP) has announced price increases and surcharges for its ethylene copolymer product line, ranging from 7-12 cents per pound, and will take effect in all regions between September 15 and October 1, 2005, or as customer contracts allow. Price adjustments have become essential by sustained, record-high raw material and transportation costs, which have been further exacerbated by the effects of Hurricane Katrina. Dupont cannot totally absorb the recent increases in raw materials and transportation costs. At the same time, the company continues to invest in production capability, innovation and new product development to bring customers science-based products and offerings that add value to their business.
Prices of crude oil, natural gas and refined petroleum products have risen to record levels and are expected to remain elevated. Even when adjusted for inflation, crude oil prices are higher than at any time except the 1979-82 period, and natural gas prices are at record highs. (Source : Rednova)
