Versatile and economical temperature controllers that can meet heat-only control, heat/cool control or indicator-only applications on plastics extruders have been unveiled. Dynisco's 1496 and 1498 Series Temperature Controllers offer an economical solution to precision temperature control of extruders. With two DIN sizes and multiple output configurations, the controllers are suitable for twin and single screw extruders. Both can be configured for heat-only control in die and adapter zones, or for control of both heating and cooling in barrel zones.
The 1496 (1/16 DIN format) & 1498 (1/8 DIN format) Series can also be used in an indicator-only mode. Because these instruments offer three default parameter sets – for heat only, heat/cool, and indicator only – they have the flexibility needed to suit all extrusion applications. Users can configure the instrument with up to three alarms, selected from a range of process alarms (process-high, process-low, SP deviation, band, logical OR / AND), as well as loop alarms to ensure process control security. All process alarms have adjustable hysteresis. The series accept a full range of thermocouple inputs as well as three-wire resistance temperature detector (RTD) inputs. Communications are accomplished via RS-485 using the Modbus TCP protocol.
