End of month restart expected at BP's South Caroline PTA plant

11-Feb-15
BP's purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in Cooper River, South Carolina, is expected to restart by February end or early March, as per market sources in Platts, expecting the unit to reach full capacity at the end of March. The Cooper River facility has two PTA lines with a total capacity of nearly 1.3 mln tpa. The Cooper River site had to shut down one of the two PTA lines after an August fire. In October, BP had to shut down the other line due to oxidation issues.
