Enterprise Products Partners has entered into an additional long-term contract to export ethane from its new terminal, under construction at Morgan's Point, Texas, USA, as per chemicals-technology.com. The terminal has the capacity to produce 200,000 barrel per day, and is scheduled to start operations by next year. Following the deal, the terminal is now around 90% contracted in terms of operating capacity. The company's natural gas liquids fractionation and storage complex in Mont Belvieu, Texas, will supply materials to the new terminal through a 24in diameter pipeline, which is currently under construction.
Enterprise general partner chief operating officer AJ 'Jim' Teague said: "This agreement is a clear indication of the continued interest for US ethane as a low cost feedstock by the global petrochemical industry.
"We are in negotiations with other customers and expect the remaining capacity to be sold out when the facility begins service. Furthermore, increased supplies of domestic ethane should help encourage continued development of infrastructure in consuming areas abroad, as well as ongoing expansion of the fleet of transportation vessels."
The terminal is capable of loading fully refrigerated ethane at rates up to 10,000 bpd.
