Enterprise Products Partners suffered a process upset Wednesday at the Splitter III propylene unit at its Mont Belvieu, Texas, natural gas liquids complex, the company said in a Thursday filing with state regulators, as per Platts. A regen heater malfunction resulted in flaring of 246 lb of propylene, which was scheduled to be completed Wednesday night, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality filing showed.
A company spokesman could not be reached for comment. Enterprise can produce 95,000 b/d of propylene through its splitter assets, which purify refinery-grade propylene into either polymer-grade or chemical-grade propylene. Additionally, the company has six fractionators operating at its Mont Belvieu NGL complex.
In spot markets Thursday, US spot polymer-grade propylene was assessed at 31.25-31.75 cents/lb FD USG for prompt-month and at 29.625-30.125 cents/lb FD USG for forward-month deliveries. US spot refinery-grade product was assessed at 16.75-17.25 cents/lb FD USG delivered.
