Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco) has launched an expansion project - EP2, one of the biggest polyethylene sites in the world with one of the most up-to-date technology complexes. Under EP2, the two partners Qapco and Total Petrochemicals will be able to produce and sell over 1 million tpa of polyethylene.
Embarking on an ambitious marketing policy, Qapco has set up an expansive marketing network. Qapco's marketing network extends to over 70 countries, including the Middle East, Asia, India, Pakistan, China, Europe, North Africa, East and South Africa and Australia. Pland are underway to expand its network to North and South America.
Besides EP2, among other on-going projects, Qapco is currently carrying out the Qatofin project. Qatofina is a joint venture between Qapco (63%), Total Petrochemicals (formerly Atofina) (36%) and QP (1%) to establish a Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) plant in Mesaieed. The plant is expected to produce around 450kmtpa of polyethylene, expandable to 600kmtpa which will be mainly exported to Asia and Europe.
