Explosion at Rosneft petrochemical facility in East Siberia kills one

An explosion at Rosneft’s petrochemical plant in Angarsk in East Siberia has killed one worker. According to preliminary reports, the explosion was caused by a hydrogen leak at a high-pressure pump. The blast destroyed a total of 120 sq mts of the roof at the facility. Any danger to the environment due to a gas leak has been ruled out. The plant is one of Russia's largest petrochemicals facilities in the region. Prosecutors have launched a criminal probe. A criminal case has been opened on suspicion of violation of safety rules which led to a loss of human life.
