ExxonMobil has started-up a flexible film coating line at its Virton facility at Belgium. The new line's multi-material functionality will enable it to process ExxonMobil oriented polypropylene (OPP) films, as well as other flexible substrates, such as polyester, oriented polyamide and oriented high density polyethylene film.
The installation of the coater supports ExxonMobil's product development in the label industry, where various printing technologies (UV, flexo, offset) require outstanding surface properties that the new coater can provide. It is also ideally suited to improve the company's capabilities to coat traditional flexible packaging and is designed to apply environmentally friendly water-based coatings.
The Films Business of ExxonMobil Chemical is a leading global supplier of a full range of OPP film for flexible packaging and labeling applications. ExxonMobil has seven affiliated production plants: 3 in Europe (Virton, Belgium; Kerkrade, the Netherlands and Brindisi, Italy) and 4 in North America (LaGrange, Stratford, Shawnee and Belleville, Canada).
