Finland packaging company to sell its rigid plastics consumer goods business due to poor showing

08-Sep-08
Finland's maker of packaging products, Huhtamaki is considering to disinvest in it's rigid plastics consumer packaging segment. The rigid plastics consumer goods segment accounted for the 17% of the firm's total turnover (2.3 bln) in 2007 and is valued at EUR 400 mln. The step is mainly attributed to the below average performance of the segment relative to management criteria for financial performance and profitability. One possible result of the above may be the firm selling off its rigid plastics consumer packaging business as it is aggressively seeking for other business arrangements and alternatives from the start of the 2009.
