KPS (Sweden), leading petrol pipe manufacturer, announced launching the first ever 100% plastic pipe for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), which it says has a world market potential and break new ground for the pipe maker. The company has brought its successful, ATEX-compliant pipe technology to the LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) fuel market which offers the same unique conductive properties as its petrol pipes. As opposed to pipes for LPG fuel made of either steel or plastic coated steel, KPS' plastic pipes are corrosion-free, and therefore offer considerable advantages in terms of safety, durability and cost efficiency. KPS' LPG pipe is a 100% plastic pipe with a permeation liner and a conductive inner layer. Therefore, they are corrosion free and come at a very competitive price.
The semi-flexible pipes are easily rolled out on site from one end to the other, and no welding is required. According to the company, the installation of these plastic pipes for LPG took less than one day for an installation in France including the pressure testing of the pipes. This represents enormous savings in cost and time compared to other types of pipes. Because of its green credential as a fuel, LPG fuel market is growing at a rate of approximately 8 - 10% per annum. In addition, it is the most common green fuels in Italy, Poland and Turkey, and is also on the rise in France, the United Kingdom and Germany - all key markets for KPS.
