Indian Oil Corp (IOC) is offering 45,000 tons of naphtha for May-June loading from two ports in a tender closing on May 6 : 30,000 tons for June 2-4 lifting from Kandla, and a second cargo from Haldia for May loading for May 19-22.
IOC regularly exports naphtha from Kandla and Dahej, but exports from Haldia are sporadic. Taking into view the 15,000 tons of naphtha for May 7-10 lifting sold from Haldia to Itochu, it is unusual for the firm to export two parcels from Haldia in a month. The impending 2-3 maintenance shutdown at Haldia Petrochemicals’ 590,000 tpa naphtha cracker could be a possible cause for this. HPL needs about 148,000 tons of naphtha feedstock at full capacity.
