Force majeure refuted by Kuwait Paraxylene

18-Oct-10
The Kuwait Paraxylene Production Company has denied talk that it has declared force majeure on its benzene and paraxylene supplies to customers on production issues, as per Platts. Operations are said to be normal as KPPC's aromatics complex is running at 100% nameplate capacity of 830,000 tpa paraxylene and 390,000 tpa benzene. 2.5 mln tpa of naphtha feedstock is sourced from the nearby Mina Abdullah refinery owned by the Kuwait National Petroleum Company. Last week, Kuwait Petroleum Corp. cancelled a November LPG tender, citing "operational reasons". However, KPPC has not received any notification of reduction of feedstock supplies for their aromatics complex.
