Formosa declares FM on HDPE film grades from Texas

14-Sep-09
Downstream equipment problems have compelled Formosa Plastics to declare force majeure (FM) on sales of high density polyethylene film grades from its 650,000 tpa Point Comfort facility in Texas. The malfunction at the Point Comfort plant occurred in the downstream material handling equipment that moves resin from the reactor to the point where it is shipped. The duration of the FM is unclear, as the problem is limited to one line, and other units were operating normally.
