Hinduja to invest in petrochemical project in India

05-Jul-05
Two states have been selected by the Petroleum Ministry as sites for the setting up of petrochemical hubs in India, West Bengal and Gujarat. Of the 14 states that made presentations to the Centre, 7 were shortlisted and 2 obtained the final approval. In the stat eof West Bengal, Haldia would be the site for the petrochemical and in Gujarat the site will be Dahej. The UK-based Hinduja group has been probably influenced by the Haldia transaction that occurred months ago and is planning to invest in the petrochemicals project that may come up at the new industrial hub in East Midnapore district of West Bengal. The Hinduja group has expressed interest to invest in a petrochemical and gas pipeline project in West Bengal. A gas pipeline project is also speculated to be a part of its projects that incorporates automobiles, petrochemicals and a sports academy.
