Hyperion Systems Engineering (Hyperion), the leading independent simulation solutions provider, will supply the Operator Training Simulator for an ethylene cracker and associated units, which form part of ONGC Petro-additions Ltd.’s (OPaL) polymer complex to be built in Dahej, India. The complex will have manufacturing capacity of 1.1 mln tpa of ethylene, 400,000 tpa of propylene, 150,000 tpa of benzene, and 115,000 tpa of butadiene. The Operator Training Simulator contract was awarded to Hyperion by The Linde Group. Hyperion’s project scope includes the design and delivery of an Operator Training Simulator system for the Dual Feed Cracker Unit (DFCU) and Associated Units of the complex which include a Benzene Extraction Unit and a Butadiene Extraction Unit. Together with consortium partner Samsung Engineering of Korea, Linde will build the turnkey plant scheduled to come on-line in late 2012.
Dr. Karsten Schulze, Project Manager from Linde IV (Advanced Automation) stated, “It is certainly a large scale project with many challenges; we trust Hyperion’s years of experience in delivering projects of this magnitude and complexity, and we are confident that they will deliver a world-class Simulator within our project timelines and budgets”
