Encouraged by strong international queries from the west and robust local growth trends, Indian Plastics Federation is scaling up the prestigious triennial exhibition Indplas'15 in Kolkata to attract more global majors to participate in the one-of-its-kind mega business-to-business (B2B) exhibition on plastics in eastern region and broadening the reach and scope of the sector.
Indian Plastics Federation (IPF), one the leading representative bodies of the burgeoning plastics industry in India, today announced INDPLAS'15 - the largest sector-specific business-to-business (B2B) international industrial exhibition in the eastern region - that would be held from 27 to 30 November, 2015, at the Science City Grounds, Kolkata. Hon'ble Minister-in-charge for Municipal Affairs and Urban Development, Janab Firhad Hakim, formally made the announcement of the launch at a gala function. INDPLAS'15 would be the 7th International Exhibition on plastics that would cover the whole gamut of the industry is being planned on a much bigger scale this time with wider participation from overseas companies and organizations.
India, with only 9.7 kg per capita consumption of polymers during 2012-13, lags far behind USA (109 kg), China (45 kg) and Brazil (32 kg). However, with the current trends in growth demand, India would be the third largest consumer of plastics in 2016. The per capita consumption of polymers in West Bengal is 4.7 which is below the national average. The Plastic industry in Eastern India employs more than 50,000 workers in over 2500 units and contributes more than Rs 1200 crores per annum to the Government exchequer by way of direct and indirect taxes.
Among foreign participants to confirm presence in INDPLAS'15 include China, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, Germany and others from Middle-East and Saarc countries. INDPLAS’12 had a 50,000 plus footfall last time with 250 participants from India and abroad.
“Indian plastics industry has posted strong growth driven by expanding product basket and strong end-user demand. The demand for polymer in India is expected to grow from 11.8 MMT (2012-13) to 16.5 MMT by 2017. The plastic sector is growing at a rate of 15 per cent (CAGR),”
“The plastics industry shapes the world we live in today whether it is industrial, technological or commodities used on a regular basis. IPF has started preparations for INDPLAS'15 in full swing in order to reach out and tap newer International markets. We have received many queries from Italy, USA and South Korea. This time, the number of participants in INDPLAS'15 would touch 500, an all time high and a 100 per cent increase over last time. This promises to have a positive effect on the plastics industry in West Bengal which is already on an upswing. The exhibition will be held on a ground of 40000 sq mtr with exhibition area of 6500 sq mtr. The total no of business visitor is expected to be 70000 from all over India and Overseas.” said Mr Ashok Jajodia, Chairman, Exhibition Organising Committee, Indian Plastics Federation (IPF).
