Indo Rama Petro plans power generation from renewable and non-renewable resources

Indo Rama Petrochemicals Ltd. plans to set up power generation project from renewable and non-renewable resources. A 125 MW coal-based power project near the coal fields of Makaradokra in Maharashtra, is being planned by the company at an investment of Rs 605 crore. The company, part of the polyester manufacturing major Indo Rama Synthetics (IRSL), also plans to invest upto Rs150 crore in green energy options like solar, ethanol, wind and biogas. Indo Rama's Butibori plant has completed expansion from 45,000 tpa to 60,000 tpa at an investment of Rs 800 crore. The Butibori plant is one of the largest single-location plants in the world, producing about 6,00,000 tpa of polyester staple fibers, filament yarns, and textile grade chips. The plant currently uses a 57 MW diesel-fuelled plant for captive consumption that will be replaced by a new coal-based plant.
