Indonesia Asahimas units operating at 100% capacity after VCM restart

27-Jan-05
Mechanical trouble had forced the shutdown of Indonesian Asahimas' VCM unit on Jan 9. Asahimas' VCM and PVC plants are operating at 100% capacity after the successful restart of its 250,000 mta VCM plant on Jan 24. The mechanical trouble triggered a shutdown of downstream units- one of the three PVC lines. One of Asahimas' 95,000 mta PVC lines was forced to shutdown due to a lack of VCM. The company's other VCM line and its 250,000 mta EDC plant were able to maintain full production during the Jan 9-23 outage. However Asahimas would not have any VCM exports in February due to the shutdown.
