Ineos has initiated restart procedures at its No. 2 olefins cracker in Chocolate Bayou, Texas, according to a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), as reported in Platts. Ineos, which produces ethylene and propylene, has two steam crackers at Chocolate Bayou with a combined capacity estimated at 3.25 billion lbs pa. Both the units were forced offline by a lightning strike in early November, of which the No. 1 unit was restarted in mid-November.
Earlier this week, CP Chem began restart procedures at its 1.75 bln lb pa cracker Cedar Bayou, Texas, facility and a 650 mln lb pa Unit 22 steam cracker at Sweeny, Texas, which had been idle at least one year.
