Jilin Chemical (JiHua) Group Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) has awarded a contract to KBR, the engineering, construction and services subsidiary of Halliburton. The contract has been awarded for basic design engineering package for a new production facility with a nameplate propylene capacity of 200,000 tpa using Superflex technology, to be added to an existing industrial site in Jilin City. The unit will be owned and operated by JiHua, a wholly owned subsidiary of CNPC. China Petroleum Engineering Company, Northeast Branch Company will perform the detailed engineering.
Superflex technology is a fluidized catalytic cracking process which converts low-value refinery and ethylene plant streams with a high degree of selectivity to propylene, ethylene and high octane gasoline. It is exclusively licensed worldwide by KBR and is based on Lyondell Chemical Company's developments and patents. The first commercial Superflex unit is currently under start-up for SASOL in South Africa.
