Americas Styrenics, a leading producer of polystyrene and styrene monomer is likely to close down six out of ten production lines in Marietta, Ohio and layoff 63 employees by March due to worsening market and downfall in demand. The company, an equally owned joint venture by Dow Chemical Company and Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP houses a research technology center supporting the polystyrene product line is located adjacent to the production facility. The Marietta, Ohio site also has a pilot plant, a technical laboratory and fabrication area.
