Mitsui and Prime Polymers complete PP compound production expansion in high growth regions

Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. and Prime Polymer Co., Ltd. announced that production augmentation has been completed at three of its global polypropylene (PP) compound hubs, viz, USA, Mexico and India. The expansion will meet growing demand for automotive use polypropylene and strengthen the group’s position in growth markets. Prime Polymer Co., Ltd. is a joint venture (JV) in which Mitsui Chemicals holds 65% and Idemitsu Kosan 35% stake.
One production line was started up in May in India. 2 new lines were started in USA in June and one new line in Mexico in July. Europe also saw a hike in capacity by 5,000 metric tpa.  All these expansions saw global capacity rise by 50,000 m tpa to 1.05 mln tpa.
