MRPL to invest in 440,000 tpa Polypropylene Plant

28-Aug-09
Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has proposed to invest approximately US$370 in a 440,000 tpa polypropylene plant. The plant will require about 450,000 tpa propylene as feedstock to be procured from the petrochem-fluidized catalytic cracking unit (PFCCU), under development as part of the Phase-III construction. The PP plant will be integrated with the Phase-III expansion of the refinery complex underway at Mangalore, Karnataka. The polypropylene plant is expected to be a valuable addition to the refinery complex, as it will produce polypropylene from polymer-grade propylene.
