Neighboring chemical companies have objected to LyondellBasell Industries’s closure of plant at Chocolate Bayou, Texas. Ineos, adjacent to a Lyondell high-density polyethylene plant, has filed an objection to its closure and says it has the right to purchase the facility. Solutia and Ascend Performance Materials are challenging plans to close an ethylene cracker, saying abandonment would be a threat to human health and safety.
