Oman's leading petrochemical company, Octal Petrochemicals' proposed integrated polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and amorphous polyethylene terephthalate (APET) facility at Salalah Free Zone, is on verge on completion, Trade Arabia reported. Mammut Building Systems (MBS), subsidiary of Emaar Industries and Investments and the company behind development of the the new facility's structures were reported confirming the same. The US$300 mln new facility of Octal Petrochemicals will supplement 500,000 tpa of PET production capacity by May 2010, thereby clubbing itself to the league world's leading polyester producers with 800,000 tpa, said a company source was reported saying.
