Oil prices rise as Obama cancels trip to Asia

Benchmark oil for November delivery inched up to US$103.5 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The price of oil rose as President Barack Obama's cancellation of his Asia trip indicated negotiations are intensifying in Washington to end a budget impasse. Brent crude rose to US$109.22 in London.
