Carbon black major Phillips Carbon Black Ltd (PCBL), part of the Rs 11,000-crore RPG Group, plans to set up a JV in Vietnam, with the Vietnam National Chemical Corp (Vinachem). Vinachem's share in the venture will be less than 25%. This is PCBL's maiden venture outside India. The company plans an investment outlay of Rs 225 crore for the 50,000 ton unit.
Vinachem has 12 foreign joint ventures with countries like China, USA, Japan, The Netherlands and Korea in the field of fertiliser, pesticide, detergent, rubber products, paint and petrochemicals. PCBL, with an installed capacity of 270,000 MTPA, is the largest exporter of carbon black from India.
