Malaysia's Petronas is running its’ 1.7 mln tpa methanol plant at Labuan at about 80% capacity since end of last week, as per Platts. Natural gas supply disruption caused a shutdown on October 3, and was restarted on October 18. The company is targeting to reach gradually stable operations of around 90%. Despite the outage, sufficient inventories helped the company avoid issuance of force majeure. A disruption of natural gas supplies shut the plant between July 19 and August 10 this year as well, and the company had to issue a force majeure during that time due to the production cut.
