PetroRabigh’s naphtha output is now MTBE-free. Naphtha from the plant has returned to normal after the gasoline-additive MTBE had contaminated some production. About 200,000 tonnes of Rabigh-grade naphtha for use as petrochemical feedstock contained high levels of MTBE.
It remains unclear what caused the contamination as the plant does not produce MTBE.
