INDUSTRY OVERVIEW
Pakistan has a growing consumer market with per capita income of US$ 1085, which is moving towards sophisticated consumption habits. These factors have contributed to the expansion of integrated plastic, printing and packaging industries, as the manufacturers are incorporating latest machinery and equipment for the packaging of their products. Moreover, the industrialists are also finding new ways for recycling of plastic products thus contributing towards environmental protection. Due to the growing demand of plastic materials, their imports have reached US$ 1.16 billion in 2009; however the local industry is also exporting plastic materials worth US$ 319 million in 2009.
