Polyethylene prices fall in North America since beginning of May

07-Jun-10
Prices for high density and linear low density PE are down an average of 6 cents/lb and low density PE have fallen by an average of 4 cents, as per Plastics News. The fall has been triggered by lower ethylene prices amid lackluster domestic demand and erosion of export sales from the region as several buyers are switching from North American sources to the recently started up plants in the Middle East. The drops come after regional prices had climbed an average of 18 cents/lb during the first four months of 2010.
