In Europe, the month of September witnessed spikes in prices of thermoplastics. Polyolefins spiked by €100/ton, while supply constraints pushed up PVC by €60. EVA was flat, while polystyrene and EPS dipped by about €30-35 in line with dipping SM values. Producers passed on the rapid rise in feedstock values as buying intentions remained strong. Despite reluctance by the processors to accept prices at these elevated levels, sellers did not flinch as their customers needed to buy. However, this has led to fewer orders and deal conclusion despite healthy consumer markets.
