A planned joint venture polycarbonate and bisphenol-A plant in Beijing between Mitsubishi Chemical Corp and Sinopec could face a possible delay in start up.Start up of the 60,000 ton polycarbonate plant and 150,000 ton BPA plant that was originally scheduled to come onstream in 2010, could slip beyond 2010. To be built at an investment outlay of 2 billion yuan, this is a 50:50 JV between the two partners. Feedstock for BPA, including acetones and phenol will be supplied by Sinopc, while Mitsubishi will supply the technology license to make BPA and PC, along with polycarbonate feedstock diphenyl carbonate.
