Qapco to supply 54,000 tpa ethylene to Pakistan's EPCL

12-Feb-09
Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco) has entered into an agreement to supply 54,000 tpa ethylene to Pakistan's Engro Polymer & Chemicals (EPCL), a subsidiary of leading PVC maker Engro Chemicals Pakistan. Under a sale and purchase agreement (SPA) signed by Qapco with EPCL and Mitsubishi Corporation (holding stake in EPCL) the ethylene supply can be ramped up to 72,000 tpa, when required. EPCL will use the ethylene for production of ethylene dichloride (EDC) and vinyl chloride monomer (VCM). EPCL is undergoing expansion, which involves PVC production increase of up to 150,000 tons and backward integration through setting up of an EDC/VCM plant and a 'Chlor alkali' plant.
