Qatar's petrochem output estimated to reach 18 mln tons in 2012

09-Jan-08
EP2 which would increase Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco)'s annual ethylene production capacity to 720,000 tons from existing 525,000 tons expansion plan has been inaugurated in Qatar. With this additional output, Qatar is set to become one of the world's largest producers of petrochemicals in the world. Qatar's petrochemicals output is expected to reach 18 mln tpa in 2012, as more capacities come on stream in the feedstock rich nations that aim to capitalise on abundant oil and gas supplies to feed economic growth and diversification. EP2 was commissioned in July last year and the first shipment of ethylene was dispatched to India's Finolex Industries in October, 2007.
