Thai petrochemicals producer Rayong Olefins plans to shut down its 800,000 tpa naphtha cracker at Mab Ta Phut for maintenance in Q4-2016, as per Argus. The cracker, with a propylene production capacity of 400,000 tpa, is expected to be shut down over 2 November-20 December.
It is unclear yet if the company will have to shut down downstream affiliates of parent company Siam Cement Group that draw feedstock from the cracker. These include Thai Polyethylene, which has the capacity to produce 980,000 tpa of high-density polyethylene, 100,000 tpa of low-density polyethylene and 110,000 tpa of linear low-density polyethylene. Thai Polypropylene, which has production capacity of 750,000 tpa of polypropylene, also draws feedstock from the Mab Ta Phut cracker.
