Russian polyethylene major Kazanorgsintez has formally launched the newly upgraded production units at two of its sites in Kazan, allowing it to turn out increased volumes of pipe grade PE, as per plasticnewseurope.com. Kazanorgsintez, part of Russia’s Taif Group, has one of the country’s biggest plants, produces almost 40% of its PE and is the nation’s largest exporter of the polymer.
At one plant, the company has boosted ethane-propane feedstock for PE production at its ethylene plant with the start up of a new 138,000 tpa cracking furnace installed by Technip. The new double-cell Technip furnace replaces several old, outdated and deteriorated furnaces and will ensure efficient expanded production at the plant.
Also, Kazanorgsintez, based in Tatarstan, is modernising the compounding facility at its HDPE plant including the installation of a new Coperion supplied compounding line. This will raise production of the market demanded PE100 grade of HDPE compound, light-stabilised by carbon black to manufacture PE pipe. The new compounding line is set to increase the grade capacity by between 30 - 50%, the company said. This will rise from 160,000 tpa to 240,000 tpa. The company, whose current ethylene capacity is more than 605,000 tpa, plans to boost its the output to 1m tpa by 2025 and expects the annual revenue to reach €1.1 bln by 2020.
