Saudi Aramco and Dow Chemical are on the lookout for firms interested in building the first stage of their joint-venture petrochemical complex in Saudi Arabia. A solicitation of interest has been issued a few days ago- an indication that the mega JV will be underway soon and could see a delay of 2 years in start up to 2015. Saudi Aramco has delayed several large projects to save money on contracting costs.
A 400,000 bpd capacity expansion plan at the Ras Tanura refinery to supply the petrochemical feedstock has also been delayed.
