Sibur inks agreement for new ethylene and derivative complex in Amur

Russian polymers producer Sibur is planning to set up a new gas chemical complex to produce ethylene and its polymer derivatives in Russia’s Far East, as per European Plastics News. An investment cooperation agreement has been inked with the government of southern Far East region of Amur. This will include the construction of the gas chemical complex there. Sibur undertook to build on local potential, particularly taking advantage of Amur’s technical infrastructure, labour sourcing and liaison with educational bodies. Initial estimates put the capacity of the prospective GCC at around 2.4 mln tpa of ethylene and derivatives.
