SOCAR on track to commence operations at US$17 bln oil-gas processing and petrochem complex in 2020

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is on track to commence operations at the planned US$17 bln oil-gas processing and petrochemical complex (OGPC) in 2020. OGPC is located in the Garadagh district of Baku, Azerbaijan. The project includes a petrochemical complex, an oil refinery and a gas processing plant, with capacities of 1.7 mln tons, 10 mln tons, and 10 billion cubic metres each year respectively, as well as Euro-5 standard petrol and diesel, as well as A-1 jet engine fuel, in compliance with Western standards. An estimated 90% of its petrochemical products, including polyethylene, polypropylene and butadiene will be exported to Turkey and other European and Asian markets. KBR was selected to manage the front-end engineering and design work on the gas processing plant.
