SONGWON & SABO plan to further strengthen successful partnership

SONGWON Industrial Group, the 2nd largest manufacturer of polymer stabilizers in the world and SABO S.p.A., a world leader in the development and manufacturing of hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS), announced plans to further strengthen their already successful collaborative partnership.
The two industry leaders joined forces in 2012 to support their strategic ambitions to establish a global presence for light stabilizers in the plastic industry. SONGWON became the exclusive global distributor of SABO’s range of HALS light stabilizers in the regional markets outside of Europe, where both organizations had recognized large potential for growth. Under a non-exclusive agreement for the European HALS market, the two companies remained as independent suppliers.

Within the cooperation, both organizations also agreed to combine their technology and expertise to develop new solutions to meet customers’ demands for innovative and high performance light stabilization packages. In the past five years, the partnership has continued to go from strength to strength. Together, SONGWON and SABO have successfully developed and introduced new light stabilizers for the automotive industry such as SABO®STAB UV 228 50PP light stabilizer and SABO®STAB UV 229 50PP light stabilizer. Both products outperform standard UV stabilizers and this makes them ideal for automotive exterior/interior parts like bumpers, where surface, color protection and gloss are key quality requirements. Commenting, Thomas Schmutz, Leader Global Technical Service & Application Development at SONGWON said: “This latest jointly developed solution provides our customers in the automotive industry with the same light stability performance, improved light stability at lower concentrations and lower VOC emissions and fogging.”

Under the strategic partnership, SONGWON and SABO are also extending their joint development agreement.
