UOP to design fifth aromatics complex for PetroChina

UOP LLC, Houston-based technology and engineering services provider has been opted by PetroChina Co. Ltd. to design the new refining and petrochemical complex for its subsidiary PetroChina Sichuan Petrochemical Co. Ltd, in Chengdu, Sichuan province. The engineering services company shall device a production facility for 600,000 tpa of paraxylene employing UOP Parex process and more than 350,000 tpa of benzene. Apart from this, the complex will also house a UOP CCR Platforming process unit to convert naphtha to aromatics and hydrogen, a UOP Isomar process unit to convert other xylenes to paraxylene, and a UOP Tatoray process unit to increase the yield of paraxylene and benzene. The Sichuan-based complex will be the UOP's fifth project for PetroChina. The upstream materials for the complex will be sourced from a new UOP Unicracking process unit that will develop 2.2 mln tpa of the heavy gas oil from crude and convert the same into diesel, kerosene, and naphtha.
