US not to impose duty orders on import of PET from Asia

27-Apr-05
US International Trade Commission (ITC) denies that PET resin from India, Indonesia and Thailand, harm US industry. As a result of the ruling, no countervailing-duty or anti-dumping-duty orders on the import of PET-resin products from those three countries will be issued. The US industry is not supposed to be materially injured or threatened by the import of PET-resin products from India, as the US Department of Commerce had determined they were subsidized. PET-resin products from India, Indonesia and Thailand did, not adversely affect the industry, as the US Department of Commerce had determined they were sold in the US at less than fair value.
